When considering the Samsung ML 1710PD printer, several of its best qualities will quickly come to mind. This can make the ML a perfect model for those needing an unobtrusive printer to sit on a small computer desk or bookshelf, out of the way but still capable of deliver high performance when needed. There’ll certainly be little trouble in moving it around, and the performance characteristics shine through at every turn.

Print speed in this Samsung comes in at a fairly quick 16 pages per minute in A4 paper size and an even better 17 pages per minute when it comes to ‘A’ size media stock. As far as what the printer can produce copy on, it handles just about all the common media stock that most anybody with a need for a printer will require. There’ll be no evidence of blur or smearing, either, which isn’t always something that’s possible in printers at this price point.

As far as storage capacities, the ML can hold up to 250 pages within a single tray, and there’s also an output tray that comes with the unit. The supplied cartridge can print out about 3,000 sheets and it will not require standard maintenance until about 15,000 sheets have been put out by the device. In other words, the printer can go for quite a while until it’ll need either a new cartridge or some sort of regular maintenance.

The Samsung ML 1710PD printer is a nicely-priced personal monochrome laser printer that works well under many different circumstances and situations. It also can run off of Linux, in addition to Mac OS 8.6 and later, as well as several different Microsoft Windows operating systems. Given that it offers high-speed printing at a bargain price, and with nice solid print resolution, there’s little to dislike about the little Samsung that could.
