Rundll32 problems are caused by various problems such as malware, spyware, viruses, or registry problems. Viruses and spyware that are undetected can be accountable for rundll32 problems as well as registry problems such as partial or broken software setups and installations.
A rundll32 error takes place when your operating system tries to load a file but isn’t able to find it on your hard drive. The result is this annyoing rundll32 error pop-up that you probably have seen already, a file cannot be found, and a frustrated computer user tries in vain to get their program to load.
An easy but expensive solution is to call a PC tech specialist who will find what causes the problem and fix the rundll32 error or you can try yourself to hopefully find what causes the problem and fix it. Prior to tinkering with your computer’s important processes and files it is important to know that you can severly damage your computer if you remove or alter certain files that your computer uses to operate while you are attempting to fix rundll32 error. Nevertheless, sometimes the problem is not too complex and can be fixed by the typical computer user.
Whenever you are not sure restart your PC. This should be your first step to repair just about all PC errors, including a rundll32 error. If rebooting has not fixed the problem there are some other steps to undertake. If you have recently installed or uninstalled a software re-do it as problems with installation and uninstalls can cause rundll32 errors.
If you have not recently installed or uninstalled any programs make sure your anti spyware and anti virus detectors are up to date and run a full system scan to find any security threats that are caused by malware.
If you still continue to get a rundll32 error you can try a clean boot on your computer which will allow you to isolate and test each system on your computer to see where the error is occurring. To do this simply type “msconfig” into the run dialogue box. Then choose the selective startup option and deselect all but one choice listed below it and reboot your computer.
Keep rebooting your system with only one startup option selected. This procedure should identify what process contains the error. Once you know what process contains the error you select the tab at the top of the Window that corresponds to the item that has been identified. You then select one option below that and continue to reboot your computer until you find the process that contains the error.
In case you don not feel comfortable messing with your system or you simply do not have time to do so, use a registry repair program. There are a few very good registry scanners that can fix rundll32.exe in less than 2 minutes.
